Opening as a movie house in 1942, the State Theater was once the hub of social activity in Hardin County. After showing its final film, ET, in 1982, the building languished as an empty eyesore for several years. But because of a community that cares, the new State includes a 3,700 square-foot Gallery that has become home to art displays, weddings, parties, receptions and corporate events. The Plum Alley Theater is the area's finest “black-box” style theater, seating 120 for live performing arts, such as music, dance, drama, comedy, and more. As the final phase is finished, the old State Theater will be completely resurrected into the majestic palace of its heyday.  The seating capacity will be more than 650 and play host to events such as movies, concerts, business meetings and festivals.
